SIC is a broad-based community advisory group comprised of parents, teachers, and community members established in every school. This advisory group works with the principal to cultivate a positive school environment supporting student success.

- What is School Improvement Council? A council made up of parents, educators, and community members who work together to support student success.

24–25 Goals
- Beautification was a goal last year. The district is currently completing an internal beautification process.
- Continue to improve school culture and climate.
New Business
- Discussion of recruiting new members.
- Discuss future tentative goals in combination with completion of last year’s two-year goals.
- Continue to improve school culture and climate.
- Bridging the gap between 5th and 6th grade: During elementary “goodbye days,” invite students to Gregg Middle to say hello. Discussion underway for the return of “Journey to the Middle.”
- Communities in Schools: Although DD2 does not currently have a coordinator, Mrs. Hall (training coordinator) could provide related support. Mrs. Hill could assist with this goal.
- Upcoming Events:
- October 23 – ELA Bingo with pumpkin painting
- November – Scavenger hunt through the school
- November 11 – Veteran’s Day ceremony
- December – Morning event
- Community Involvement: Explore opportunities for community outreach such as hosting a cookout in local neighborhoods.
- Low Country Food Bank: Mrs. Hall shared previous experience; Mr. Helton will contact the coordinator.
- Reach out to potential business partners.
- Create flyers and posts for ParentSquare and social media.
- Business Incentives: Flyers, signs, t-shirts, and public recognition.
- Include an information table at school events.
- Woodward: Reach out to Sandhill for PTSA and business partnerships.
- Born United Clothing Line: Located downtown; Mrs. Drinkard contacted for a letter. If confirmed, advertising options will be explored.

- January 30th-MATH-Roll into Success-Wrestling will hand out the materials during car rider line. Will include MAP information, SC Ready information, deck of cards with games you can play with the cards.

New Business
Changes within the school building for next year.
- Moving the teachers from the 6th grade building to the 200 building. This allows those teachers to be closer to the other teachers, allowing for closer community and culture. Our FERAPA teachers will be much closer to each other to help with communication and culture.
- All of these changes will be made starting spring break and finishing in the summer.
- Our buildings will now be from 500 over.
- Bridging the gap between middle and elementary.
- Orchestra, chorus, and band have taken trips to the elementary schools to promote the fine and performing arts programs.
- Rising 6th grade night is tonight.
- Working on getting student council to help with 6th grade meet the teacher.
- Leadership team will help with the transition to high school next year.
SIC Yearly Report is due on April 15th
